Card Commander Funding Policy

Card Commander exists because of the community. This page explains how we keep the lights on — and how we plan to grow.

Where We Are Now: Community Funded

Card Commander is currently funded entirely by the people who use it.

There are no investors, no corporate backers, and no parent company pulling strings. Every server bill, every development hour, and every feature you use is made possible by players who believe this tool is worth supporting.

If you’ve ever shared the site, recommended it to a friend, or simply used it — you’re already part of what keeps this going.

Want to do more? We’ll be opening direct community support options (one-time and recurring) in the near future. 100% of those contributions go back into the platform — hosting, development, and new features.

Where We’re Headed: Respectful Advertising

At some point, Card Commander will introduce advertising to help sustain long-term growth. When that day comes, here’s our commitment to you:

  • No intrusive ads. No pop-ups, no auto-play video, no ads that break the experience.
  • Relevance over volume. Ads will be limited to things that actually make sense here — TCG products, game accessories, hobby retailers.
  • Clearly labeled. Ads will always be marked as ads. No blurred lines between content and promotion.
  • Community first. If the community tells us an ad format sucks, we’ll remove it. Full stop.

Advertising will supplement community support — not replace it. The goal is a sustainable platform that doesn’t depend on squeezing users.

What We’ll Never Do

  • Sell your personal data
  • Paywall core tools (card database, deck builder, event tracker stay free)
  • Let sponsors influence card data, rulings, or editorial content
  • Run ads that compromise the integrity or performance of the site

Transparency

We believe you deserve to know how this site is funded. This page will be updated whenever our funding model changes — no quiet pivots, no surprises.
