ST02 Operation Meteor / OZ is a Solid Deck
Every great pilot starts somewhere — and the ST02 Operation Meteor / OZ starter deck is built to be that starting line. It arrives as a complete, tournament-legal 50-card deck paired with its own 10-card resource deck, ready to play straight out of the box, with nothing to assemble and nothing missing.
What makes a starter deck rewarding isn’t a single trick — it’s learning to feel the rhythm of the game itself, along with how your deck works within that rhythmic framework. ST02 hands you that harmonious rhythm. You open the way every duel opens: an EX Base standing guard over your shield area, six face-down Shields at your back. From there, as you play, you’ll watch your power increase substantially at the start of every new turn.
As more of your deck unlocks — you’ll start to see the true rhythm of this deck around turn 7 because a card’s Level, Turn, and Resources are directly related. Turn seven is where you will have acquired the number of Resources you need to field the Wing Gundam/Heero Yuy combo. That is as long as you have the cards in your hands to unleash. Your strongest plays aren’t gated behind luck; they’re gated behind tempo, and tempo is something you learn to command.
As long as you can hold out until the later turns, not to say that there aren’t other powerful unit cards like the Wing Gundam (Bird Mode), Tallgeese, and Gundam Heavyarms. The real power comes when you field the Wing Gundam with its pilot link Heero Yuy. This deck features Wing Gundam (x4) and Heero Yuy (x4.) Four of each individual card is the maximum amount of cards allowed in your deck.
The Mulligan (Five-Card Re-draw)
Also it’s crucial to remember that you are allowed to perform a single Mulligan once at the beginning of the game if you need to give yourself a better strategic edge. There’s also the chance that you make your situation worse though.
Gundam Card Game Official Mulligan Procedure:
- When: After drawing the initial 5 cards, but before placing 6 cards in the shield area.
- Process: Return the entire initial hand to the deck.
- Result: Draw 5 new cards.
- Final Step: Shuffle the deck after the mulligan.
